About Us

The East Knox Twirling Group was founded by Debby and Alisha Smith in 1994 with only one student. By the end of the year, we had five students and the following year we had ten. With our small group, we performed every chance we could. This included the Mount Vernon 4th of July parade, the Danville-Howard Turkey Festival, the Mount Vernon Christmas Parade, three nursing homes, and our very first Spring Recital. For the first three years, our numbers increased dramatically with no use of advertising other than word-of-mouth. For the last three years, our numbers have ranged from 40-56 students. All of these students are from one small school district of around 500-1000 students total, kindergarten through twelfth grade. Our total program this year (including the Junior High and High School) consists of 72 students, three adult instructors, and four student instructors. We now are proud to offer our students private lessons, summer lessons, and additional contest opportunities. |
